The Little Museum tells the story of Dublin in the 20thCentury. This “much-loved museum” (Rough Guide to Dublin) occupies a beautiful Georgian townhouse in the very centre of the city.

The museum was launched in April 2011 with a public appeal for historic objects. The response to that appeal reflects the generosity of the Irish public, as well as the vision of our patrons in Dublin City Council.

The Little Museum was recently described as “Dublin’s best museum experience” by the Irish Times. There are now over 5,000 artefacts in the collection, as well as three floors of exhibition space and an acclaimed café in the basement.

We have been nominated for the European Museum of the Year Awards, children attend free civics classes here every morning, and our greeter programme, City of a Thousand Welcomes, has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as “the best free thing to do in Europe.”
